Falcon Ridge Friday

Very excited about the upcoming Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.  I’ll be part of the Emerging Artist Showcase on Friday afternoon and playing around the campsites and midway all through the weekend.  Also, you know, just chilling and digging the absolute tidal wave of music that is Falcon Ridge.  More info on the Gigs page.

In other news, I’ve been asked to join WFUV’s John Platt for his On Your Radar series in September.  The Gigs page is, again, your go-to source for more.  This should be great fun.  John is a terrific DJ (host of the Sunday Breakfast show) and a passionate supporter of the acoustic music scene at all levels.

See you at the Ridge!

Berube Emergent

Great news!  I’ve been  selected to perform at this year’s Falcon Ridge / Grassy Hill Emerging Artists Showcase.  Woo-hoo!

I’ll be rocking the big stage at this year’s Falcon Ridge Folk Fest, which takes place July 31-August 2.  The Emerging Artists Showcase happens on Friday afternoon from 12 to 4:30 and each of the 24 selected artists will play two songs.

It’s always a great event and this year it’s going to be extra special. Not just because I’m there but because other Emergents include my good pals Meg Braun, Mya Byrne, and Scott Wolfson and Other Heroes.  Yes!

See ya there!

Happy February!

The CD release show at First Acoustics was marvelous.  So many great people onstage, including Carolann Solebello, Matt Scharfglass, Jeff Roberts, Catherine Miles, Karyn Oliver, Meg Braun, and Scott Wolfson.  What a big pile of fun!

And even more incredible talent at the open mic that preceded the show.  Folks like Honor Finnegan, Karen Dahlstrom (with Katherine Etzel), Elisa Peimer, and Jon Sobel shared tunes beforehand.  Now all of these people have to say that they opened for me. (Heh.)

Coming up in February, a great show in Metuchen, NJ with my Folkin’ the 80s pal Sharon Goldman.  Be on the lookout for a solo Concert Window show in March and then in April I’ll be participating in a benefit for our friends at Long Island’s Garden Stage featuring the music of the Beatles.

Stay warm, people!

Sticky CD Release Show Coming Up on January 4th!

It’s this Sunday, January 4th at 5:00PM in Brooklyn.  (Sign-up for the pre-show open mic begins at 4:30.)

This is going to be a wicked fun show with MAB performing both solo and with a full band.  There will be food.  There will be drink.  There will be harmonies.  There will even be guacamole.

Full details are right here.  We’d love to see you there.  And have yourself a Sticky New Year!

Post-NERFA News

Wow. NERFA is always fun but this year was particularly special as this was the coming-out party for Sticky.  The 60-second clip of “Bride of Frankenstein Hair” that was played at the On the Griddle session was well-received by the panel of DJs and the assembled audience.  Imagine how they’ll feel when they hear the rest of it, not to mention the whole album.

It was great to play a few showcases, jam with other fantastic musicians, and share the new disc with presenters, DJs, and other members of the folk community.  Looking forward to continue spreading the Sticky gospel.

Which brings me to the news that Sticky is now available through CD Baby.  Click on the Media link to purchase downloads or the whole physical album.  Huzzah!

It’s NERFA Time!

I’ll be introducing Sticky to all of the fine people of the folk music community this weekend at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) conference in Kerhonkson, NY.  If you’re at the Hudson Valley Resort please come say howdy, get a sticker and get a copy of the new disc.  I think you’re going to like it.  See ya there!

If you’re not going to NERFA, check the Gigs page to find out when/where I’ll be playing.   Sticky will be available on CD Baby and iTunes very very soon.  Woot!

And It’s Off!

Ladies and gentlemen, Sticky is now in the can.  Whoo-hoo!  Final tweaks have been made, levels have been adjusted so slightly that you’d probably never notice the difference, and graphics have been finalized and (we hope) proofread.

Now we wait for the disc production company to turn a bunch of digital files into actual physical CDs.  And you can get Sticky as soon as it’s available.  How?  Instructions will be posted soon.  Stay tuned!

It’s Getting Sticky in Here

The new CD is almost done, and I can’t wait to share it with you. It’s going to be called [drumroll, please] “Sticky” and I’m hoping it’ll be stuck to your brains for quite a long time. Release is still schedule for late October and anyone attending the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) conference should expect to see me with many copies. I’ve had a lot of help on this one from engineer Mark Dann, drummer Dan Weiss, and vocalists Scott Wolfson and a passel of Chicks, including the lovely Carolann Solebello, Catherine Miles, Karyn Oliver, Sharon Goldman, and Meg Braun. A CD release show will be announced soon, which will be a rare full-band show you won’t want to miss. Also in the works: a new Folkin’ the 80s show with Sharon Goldman that will be streamed live via Concert Window. Stay tuned for details. Cheers! MAB
